Out of the Cannon, On to the Needles

The other night, I pulled out the Bin of Yarn and Other Random Stuff like Ethernet Cords from under my bed and lined up all the sock yarn to decide what I would cast on with next. I perused my Ravelry queue and thought long and hard and came to no conclusions. In the coming months, I have to knit: one BSJ for the new baby of some friends, two pairs of finger-flap gloves, and a pair of socks for Celeste. So what do I cast on for first?

A pair of socks for myself, of course. I'm using one of the lace panels from Hedera and then knitting the rest in stockinette with a slip-stitch heel.

The yarn is just lovely, it's Claudia Hand Painted fingering in Walk in the Woods and has about twelve different colors in it including teal, forest green, salmon, maroon, yellow, chartreuse, and sky blue.

It's yummy and these socks are flying off the needles. I love when that happens, especially since the last socks (Firestarters) took roughly three months to knit, because of the endless swath of k1tbl, p2. I made sure with these socks that there was no ktbling involved, nor no cabling. Just simple k2tog and yo. And lots and lots of stockinette. And slick knitting needles and a lazy Easter Sunday.

In other news, last night I had a dream about shooting rabbits out of giant cannons. This may have to do with any of these things: 1) Flight of the Hamsters, 2) A conversation with my parents about angora rabbits, or 3) This post, by Knitnut. Or all of the above.
