I drove to Ohio last weekend. From New Hampshire. That's a long ways to go for a wedding, but I did it with my best friend. We also camped and went to Cedar Point amusement park (home of some of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world! Woo!!)
So, I thought to myself, eleven hours to drive there plus four hours between amusement park location and wedding location, plus fifteen more hours of driving the next day... That's a lot of driving. And a lot of sitting in the car. So I'll knit! A lot! Like four pairs of socks! So I packed enough yarn for three pairs (I figured that four was a little far-reaching) and printed out a bunch of interesting patterns, and away we went.
Four days later, no knitting had gotten done, but a lot of living was done instead. I'm okay with that exchange.
In my defense, I did cast on during the trip. And knit an inch of 2x1 ribbing and then promptly messed up the first pattern repeat (Drunken Bees, anyone? Yeah. ALL those rows have business going on, not just the odd ones like I'm used to). So into the frog pond it went, and then I decided that knitting was for moot and I was just going to relax, spend time with my best friend, and watch the farmland roll by.
The week before, I did finish the Wedding Mittens. After a lot of weaving in of ends and sewing on buttons (thanks, season finale of America's Next Top Model, for providing me with something mindless-yet-entertaining)
I like them, they turned out really well. I hope the happy couple likes them too.
