Monday and Wednesday

WRITTEN ON MONDAY:

As yesterday was International Knit in Public Day (?? Was it?? I'm not up on these things) And I was flying cross country to Seattle, I knit in public on my plane. I managed to finish up one of the Nine-to-Five socks I was working on as the plane was coasting down over Mount Rainier and the Olympics.

Mount Rainier was actually close enough to touch from the plane. Seriously. I could have stuck my hand out of the window and patted its gorgeous, snowy peak. And also, everything is very blue in Seattle because I was playing with the color balances and forgot to take the filter off.

Mt. Rainier

I had stares from the family I was sitting next to as I finished up the toe on the landing. "Is she knitting a sock?" "I think it's a sock" they whispered back and forth to each other. And yes, it is in fact a sock.

WRITTEN ON WEDNESDAY (tonight):

If last night's adventure was walking 10 blocks up the 'Ave to sketchy Safeway, buying three six-packs of microbrew and a giant cooler to lug them around in, followed by watching the Celts game in a tiny basement dungeon pub, tonight's adventure was getting the New Hampshire boy("buses scare me. lots of people scare me. I don't do well in urban areas") to ride a bus for 20 blocks ("are you sure you know where to get off? Does this go to the right place?"), followed by eight blocks of searching for earplugs. I've had a different beer every night for the past four nights and tomorrow will end with a tour of the Red Hook Brewery, where I am sure that I will be past the warm and happy stage I reached tonight and well into the "everything's funny and I love everyone" stage of consumption. Also, the New Hampshire boy's dreams will come true, as that's all he's talked about for the past four days.

Right. This is a knitting blog. I have two rows of the second Nine-to-Five sock. Not much, and not really photographic either.

Tough. Seattle has my attention for the time being, so you'll have to make do with unedited travel photos for the rest of the duration.
