I've fallen off the face of the blogosphere in favor of things like hanging out with my roommate, knitting, working in the lab for hours, cooking, field research, raspberry picking, jamming, and listening to the rain on our air conditioning unit.
And photographing my mother's garden friends. I'm not sure if my father loves these pink guys or merely tolerates them, but every spring he stakes them out in the back yard, where my mom can see them from the window.
I finished the Nine-to-Five socks for one of my mother's lady friends.
I was hesitant about this yarn and pattern combination at first. The yarn was too variegated and the pattern had an interesting stitch combination. The yarn won me over first with a soft heathered look and really bright colors. There must be a pattern to the dyeing process because the colors were so crisp and not muddled, but I couldn't figure it out.
Next up, I just turned the heel of a Drunken Bee in purple Smooshy. Yum yum yum. The pattern is fairly intuitive in the same way that Pomatomas are intuitive and I'm enjoying a slightly more "thinking" knit. Next up will be something knit in the Kureyon sock I got for my birthday and socks for Celeste. I haven't decided what yarn I'll use for her, either some blue and purple KnitPicks or else something from the stash. We'll cross that bridge when I finish these.

I really like those socks. The pattern and yarn (not one I've worked with) work really well together. I've just added the pattern to my rav queue
Flamingo! I'm having flashbacks to a field season in Montana where we had one of those as a mascot for our dig.
