The weather has officially turned crisp here in College Town, New Hampshire. My favorite thing is to walk into the lab and note which trees have changed colors since the day before. WRITTEN ON MONDAY:As yesterday was International Knit in Public Day (?? Was it?? I'm not up on these things) And I was flying cross country to Seattle, I knit in public on my plane. I managed to finish up one of the Nine-to-Five socks I was working on as the plane was coasting down over Mount Rainier and the Olympics. I've wanted to knit the Firestarter pattern for a long time now, ever since I started knitting socks last year. I make strange faces while I knit. I learned this recently. Has anybody else come across this phenomenon? The phenomenon of trying to grab a stitch or k3tog or do a cable over 8 stitches on 7s using Malabrigo and suddenly, the brows are furrowed, the tongue is either hanging out or being bitten, and the cheeks are sucked way in? I've gone for too long without writing and it's showing. So instead of starting a new, "hey look! I'm in grad school! Now here's some emotional upheaval with your coffee!" blog, I am following the advice of a wise friend who told me to "write what I love."I love to knit. Like many, it borders upon obsession.
